just calling to let you know we're not on fire!

Since the strip's so huge, extra blather goes under the cut! I'm pretty sure this one will have to be a two-page spread in the minicomic.

Hilariously, this is the one and only time I've burned a dish so badly that it became inedible (and in fact, I couldn't finish it), since I started cooking "for real." I guess it just had to be extra-memorable! Also, while I was drawing this strip? Someone DID manage to set off the main fire alarm for the whole apartment building (while cooking), and the fire department DID come (without being called).

So this is going to be the last Turtle Soup strip, at least for awhile! Oof, I've been working on this stuff for almost a year and a half ... I'm ready to do other stuff for awhile, preferably without anyone I know in real life as characters. There's a bit more filler and such to do (not to mention covers), but I will of course let you guys know when the minicomic becomes available. :)

Of course, I kind of have to finish my CCS application first. I've been dawdling on that a little, since the rest of what I have to do doesn't actually involve making (new) comics ...

By the way, if you're reading this and you're local to the Boston area, the Boston Comics Roundtable is planning a release party/gallery opening for Inbound 5: The Food issue on November 5 (7-9 pm) at the Atomic Bean cafe in Cambridge! I should have a couple pages from my submission up. Would be thrilled if you dropped by. :)

Inbound 5 got quite a thoughtful review at this dude's blog. He was kind enough to take a little time on each and every submission, making it my first review ever! Pretty nifty.
