Well, clearly there's an issue, then, because I'm not intentionally parodying any existing fairy tale. This story came out of my own head, though obviously it's influenced by fairy tales and legends in general. (You don't mean the Pomona story, do you? I just took the pose from the painting, and I'd agree that it doesn't work very well.)
